Internships
UGROW Fall internSHIP
The focus of this internship is the REC UGROW Community and School Gardens Network. UGROW supports 80+ member gardens in the city of Worcester, including neighborhood gardens, school/learning gardens, organizational/institutional gardens, and urban farms. We provide direct resources for gardeners, technical assistance, and educational and community-building programming.
Volunteering & Interning
with REC Throughout the Year
REC posts one time volunteer opportunities on our website at https://www.recworcester.org/volunteer. Students and faculty can also sign up on that page for monthly volunteer emails with more details about project specific opportunities, based on the needs identified by the gardens and schools we support. We have a small staff team and receive many requests to partner for CBL classes and student research projects. In order for us to best manage our resources and plan for fruitful partnerships, we ask faculty to work with our team at least 3 months prior to the start of a course to develop mutually beneficial project work. We are typically only able to work with students for research projects in the context of an internship experience.
Internships and service positions at REC provide an opportunity for deeper understanding and connection to our mission and programs. Internships and volunteer opportunities are unpaid (with the exception of the Commonwealth Corps Service Year through which there is a stipend available). We are happy to discuss class credit for these opportunities and share grants other students have been able to secure to support their internship participation. Internship applications are accepted on a rolling basis right before through the first 2 weeks of each semester. Commonwealth Corps Service Year applications open annually in May and must be completed by June.
